How to pull your child out of public school

Pulling your child from public school to homeschool as a private school is much easier than you would think.

Simply write a Letter of Intent, naming your child, and cc the school your child is zoned for, sending them a copy so they can alter their records.   Otherwise, a Letter of Intent does not require names of children .... or you can send a regular Letter of Intent to the DOE, and a similar letter with the name of your child to the school.   Always send them registered mail!

This original letter, with the name of your child on it, only needs to be done once, when you initially pull him/her out of school.   In the following years, a simple Letter of Intent is sufficient.

Here is an excellent, well-established site with this information:  Chef of LA - Click on Frequently Asked Questions, then under the category "How To", click on the desired link.
